Siding

The siding on your home can dramatically change its appearance.

There are a a variety of options for siding when it comes to the material. Brick homes can last over 100 years. It can be over 25 years before you need to begin thinking about cracks or other possible damages. If you are looking for a less expensive choice, there is also brick-veneer, which will look just as appealing to the eye although sacrifice some durability. For weather related concerns a stone house is a great option.

Stone houses will have little effect from things like heat, snow, ice and rain. Stucco is another common use for building a home. Stucco is a material comprised of cement combined with water and other ingredients like sand or lime. Stucco creates a rock hard surface that stays solid and keeps moisture out. Synthetic stucco's are available at a lower price point. These synthetic materials look authentic but lose some of the durability.

Stucco & Masonry

STUCCO
Stucco traditionally  is a cement mixture used for siding.  Cement is combined with water and inert materials such as sand and lime to create the finished product. Wooden walls are usually covered with tar paper and chicken wire or galvanized metal screening. This framework is then covered with the aforementioned stucco mixture. The cement is then sometimes applied directly to specially prepared masonry surfaces.
MASONRY
Masonry is known as a highly durable form of construction. However, the quality of materials used, in the mortar and workmanship, as well as the pattern in which the units are assembled can significantly alter the durability of the overall masonry construction.
